Class of 1960 50-Year Reunion

Saturday, October 2, 2010

CHS 1960 50 Year Reunion

Central High School's 50th class reunion was held on Friday, Oct. 1st and Saturday Oct. 2nd 2010. Friday night's event at the Ft. Snelling Club was attended by 100 alumni. We enjoyed plentiful appetizers, music, a video of the demolition of CHS, and the best thing, revisiting old friendships. Most of the feedback we received was extremely positive. The only criticism we heard was there was not enough time Friday to get all the visiting done. We actually decided it wasn't really a criticism, just classmates having a good time and wishing there was more of it. This was duly noted for any future events.

Saturday night's event was at the Ft. Snelling Officers Club and the attendance was 120 persons with 80 of them being alumni. We were also fortunate to have teachers Chuck Elias, Richard McNamer and Joyce Jackson join us.

Dinner was very good, as was our short program. The music was mellow allowing that very important visiting to continue. One comment overheard was "This is the best party I have ever been at."

Along with the two day event there was a 50yr reunion book put together. This book included Central High School history, missing alumni, and alumni that we have lost along the way. The book also included responses from alumni who were asked to tell us about their last 50yrs "In a nut shell." This response was outstanding. We received 150 "Bios" from alumni attending the reunion, and also from some who were unable to attend. It is very interesting reading. A 20 minute DVD of the two nights was also produced, showing faces of all those who attended along with the great music of our high school days.

The feeling of the reunion committee is that the Central High School 50th Class Reunion, based on our well received events, and the many positive comments and notes from our classmates, was extremely successful. We extend our thanks to all who played a part in making it so.
